I just got myself a kitty! Her name is Misty and she's 7 weeks old. I'd get a good picture for you, but she's too energetic to stay still.
Seeing as you're an avid cat lover, mind sharing some tips to someone who just got his first cat? :D
Awww, yay! I’m enlisting my wife to help with this question—she’s been raising cats far longer than I have. She helped out with San Francisco’s catch and release feral cat program when she lived in SF and everything I know about cats, I know from her. SO!
Make sure that Misty has plenty of things to scratch as she gets older—scratching pads, cardboard, etc. You never want her to get in the habit of scratching the furniture.
Play with her. A LOT! Get toys and fun stuff and engage her as much as you can. People think cats are aloof, but if you give your cat tons of attention, she’ll be super close (as I was typing this, one of our cats—Maybellene—came over and rubbed on me and then walked away).
Cuddle her and pick her up and pet her and talk to her. Like our last point, give her all the love and affection you would a dog or a human baby and it’ll make all the difference in the world.
Don’t yell at her if she doesn’t get the swing of the litter box right away. Not all cats figure it out right away. Oh, and clean the litter box every night. It’ll keep the smell down in your house, but it’ll also be nicer for your kitty.
Take her to the vet for her regular check-ups and if you ever suspect anything is wrong. If something is wrong, the best thing you can do is get her looked at quickly. You don’t need to be a crazy doting cat parent, but if you’re at all concerned, go to the vet.
Pay attention to what food she likes and what she doesn’t like. If our cats don’t like some stuff, they’ll let us know by not eating it. Then we won’t buy it again and they’ll be happy.
Get her some treats. Don’t give her too many at once—you don’t want an overweight/unhealthy cat. Mix in exercise with treats and fun!
Good luck and send a photo when she calms down a bit!
It was rad—and in IMAX 3D (that screen is huuuuuge). We saw scenes from different parts of the movie, so we got to see some of Flynn’s Arcade, Sam Flynn’s arrival to the Grid, some sexy ladies, badass disc battling, light cycle chasing, a wonderfully bearded Jeff Bridges and more. It’s a frickin’ gorgeous movie. I’m psyched for the full flick.
Oh, and we got swag.
The special TRON Night wristband.
Promo flyers…but look at ‘em. I love the movie’s style.
Hi! I think your blog is perrty awesome, you see, I always wanted to work for Marvel Enterteinment, because I love their comic books, but I don't think I will ever get to, cause I'm not creative AT ALL or draw. Plus, I live in Brasil, and brasilian dreams never come true. I also wanted to be a rockstar, so I started to work on that. I play guitar and sing in a band, so, if five years from know you see a short hair weird girl with four other boys on MTV (I'm only 15 now, and famous people are usualy 20), you will know it's me. Oh, and I love tacos as well! My dad makes THE most delicious tacos ever. You, your wife and your friend Alex are welcome to have dinner with us anytime.
I'll stop talking crazy now.
First off, STOP with the negativity. Saying you’re not creative at all does you no good. You play guitar and are in a band and you’re only 15?! That’s creativity like whoa. I tried learning guitar when I was a little younger than you, but it didn’t work out so I focused my creative energies in other ways. And I’m pretty sure your creativity will only get more awesome with age and focus.
Okay? Okay! Being in Brazil doesn’t have to stop you from doing cool stuff with Marvel. We have artists of all kinds all over the world. And you’re so young, you can hone those skills for YEARS and become the next great rock star/Marvel artist. And we have tons of other jobs if you do come to NYC or LA and make it to Marvel.
And thanks for the invite! I just read your message to Elizabeth and Alex and they said thanks as well! Your message is really one of my all-time favorites, so thanks again!
dvertising student get an internship? even if it means just correcting the spanish grammar on the latino-thug of the week. (lucky americans)
For future reference, it's "vamonos" not "vamanos". That's kind of a pet peeve of mine.
You want to intern at Marvel? Apply here! You may want to try for a Sales Communications internship! Or, if you can write and do research, apply to intern with me as a Web Editorial intern.
And as a Latino dude (my dad was Colombian), I like your idea about crackin’ down on the grammar. That said, editor Alejandro Arbona locks that stuff down for us.
