If I recall correctly, once you get all the covers from the lockboxes, you’ll get the character. No CP needed at that point.

Hmmmm. I don’t THINK so. Groot’s not spent too much time on Earth, and Hydro-Man hasn’t been to space, as far as I know. Remember you can over-water plants and do major damage to them!
I’m level 238!
Well, it’s my job to support Marvel things, so sure. And who’s to say the Iso concept hasn’t been introduced in the comics?
Agreed! I’d love to see her in the game! There’s so much rad stuff coming for Avengers Alliance.
I got nuthin’, sorry. I just randomly assigned at least two characters of every class to the different teams. I just started Mission 3, so maybe I’ll know more later on.
I’m going with Rogue, Horseman of Famine. She’s gonna be Janet Jackson level nasty.
That is a very good question! Deadpool is…Deadpool. He’s fun to use and very wacky, but he’s certainly not the best character strategy-wise in Marvel: Avengers Alliance. On the other hand, Cable is actually pretty amazing in PVP if used correctly and excellent in everyday use. I’m about to level Cable up to 11 (DP’s currently level 10 as well) and he’s pretty great.
My advice: go with Cable!
Now that Marvel: Avengers Alliance PVP season 2 is over, I wanted to give some insight into how I stayed in the top .5% and grabbed Cable. But remember, this isn’t gonna set you up right for the next tournament. I got knocked down to lower tiers all the time. I’d come back from a few hours away and be down 80 points. I was just able to mitigate some of the destruction with my layout below; I still had to initiate something like 300 attacks over the course of the tournament to stay afloat.
First, I chose my team of Phoenix Force Tactician Emma Frost and Mockingbird. Earlier on in the tournament I had WWII Tactician Captain America and Scarlet Witch. But they weren’t cutting it. Emma’s tough and her mind attacks affect most characters no matter what. Mockingbird’s just insane. She’s strong, she gets multiple attacks and she can take down just about anyone when she sees their vulnerabilities. But her defense isn’t that high and she does get killed quickly in some matches. But that’s who I’m sticking with for the next tournament…at least until I get a better handle on Cable and Deadpool. :)
Next, my Agent’s load-out. I tinkered with this a ton, throughout the tournament. Construct Matrix is crucial because it provides a shield and heals. Quantum Jumper is necessary because it gives your teammates an extra turn. If you’re lucky, you can get four to 7 turns before the computer even gets a chance to go thanks to Quantum Jumper and some hero bonuses. Sudden support I like because it gives my one weapon a boost. I first had a Phoenix weapon in there after watching my whole team get wiped out by Sudden Support & the weapon. But I like Laufey’s Needle because it has a Deathfrost status effect when it hits the entire enemy squad and a chill status effect when you get hit. That said, I’ll probably experiment a bit with that weapon slot. My advice: Don’t use any weapon that hurts you as an adverse effect. Not worth it.
Hero Bonuses! I have a pretty stacked collection of heroes and I know that’s not going to be the case for everyone. Level up as many of your characters as much as you can. Send them on flights and get them as strong as you can. The more you can boost your heroes, the better. Also, try to space them out. I had more Scrappers and Infiltrators earlier on, but switched their classes to Bruisers later to get a better defense rating.
Armory is a tricky one. I’m always adding high level items and weapons to the armory when I can. You can replace any item in any slot—you’ll just lose that older item. But a better rating makes it worth it. I’ve seen folks with SUPER high offense ratings, but weak defense and I’ve crushed them because I go with a more balanced angle. But it’s up to you and your play style. Just get that armory as stacked as you can.
Okay, now that I’ve shown you how to win, I expect you all to crush me in PVP Tournament 3. :)
1! Alas, I cannot provide any information. But looking at the schedule of items, characters, missions, costumes and all kinds of rad Marvel: Avengers Alliance stuff—I don’t think anyone will be bummed at the amount of cool stuff on the way. The team behind M:AA is cranking out cool stuff every week. Can’t stop. Won’t stop.
2! There’s definitely a snowball’s chance in Hades of us getting X-23! But, there’s an equally valid chance for most any Marvel character. That’s one of the reasons why I love this game—it’s PACKED with content. I counted over a dozen characters slated for release in the future and I don’t think they’ll slow down.
Wish I could give you more answers or details about other stuff, but the seeeekrits’ gotta stay seeeekrit.
On another note, I’m trying to hold onto my place in the current PVP tournament. Staying in the top .5% is a constant battle! FIngers crossed—I want me some Cable!
Ohhhhhh yeah. I’ve seen the plans for the next several months. And the plans, they are awesome.
Currently on the fence about Beast. Psyched for the British Invasion characters—Captain Britain, Black Knight, Union Jack & Psylocke. But that’s stuff you guys KNOW. Much more on the way.
It’s a mix. Definitely a perk as the folks making the game have given me and my team some gold to help us get what we need in order to promote the game to the fullest. But, really, we’re all HUGE fans of Marvel: Avengers Alliance, we play even when we’re out of gold or any perks. And, really, the gold’s the only perk (albeit a big one). I totally didn’t get Deadpool in the PVP tournament, so I’m sans ‘Pool like most everyone else.
Glad you’re enjoying the game and psyched for you and everyone else to see what’s in store!
