Now that Marvel: Avengers Alliance PVP season 2 is over, I wanted to give some insight into how I stayed in the top .5% and grabbed Cable. But remember, this isn’t gonna set you up right for the next tournament. I got knocked down to lower tiers all the time. I’d come back from a few hours away and be down 80 points. I was just able to mitigate some of the destruction with my layout below; I still had to initiate something like 300 attacks over the course of the tournament to stay afloat.
First, I chose my team of Phoenix Force Tactician Emma Frost and Mockingbird. Earlier on in the tournament I had WWII Tactician Captain America and Scarlet Witch. But they weren’t cutting it. Emma’s tough and her mind attacks affect most characters no matter what. Mockingbird’s just insane. She’s strong, she gets multiple attacks and she can take down just about anyone when she sees their vulnerabilities. But her defense isn’t that high and she does get killed quickly in some matches. But that’s who I’m sticking with for the next tournament…at least until I get a better handle on Cable and Deadpool. :)

Next, my Agent’s load-out. I tinkered with this a ton, throughout the tournament. Construct Matrix is crucial because it provides a shield and heals. Quantum Jumper is necessary because it gives your teammates an extra turn. If you’re lucky, you can get four to 7 turns before the computer even gets a chance to go thanks to Quantum Jumper and some hero bonuses. Sudden support I like because it gives my one weapon a boost. I first had a Phoenix weapon in there after watching my whole team get wiped out by Sudden Support & the weapon. But I like Laufey’s Needle because it has a Deathfrost status effect when it hits the entire enemy squad and a chill status effect when you get hit. That said, I’ll probably experiment a bit with that weapon slot. My advice: Don’t use any weapon that hurts you as an adverse effect. Not worth it.

Hero Bonuses! I have a pretty stacked collection of heroes and I know that’s not going to be the case for everyone. Level up as many of your characters as much as you can. Send them on flights and get them as strong as you can. The more you can boost your heroes, the better. Also, try to space them out. I had more Scrappers and Infiltrators earlier on, but switched their classes to Bruisers later to get a better defense rating.

Armory is a tricky one. I’m always adding high level items and weapons to the armory when I can. You can replace any item in any slot—you’ll just lose that older item. But a better rating makes it worth it. I’ve seen folks with SUPER high offense ratings, but weak defense and I’ve crushed them because I go with a more balanced angle. But it’s up to you and your play style. Just get that armory as stacked as you can.

Okay, now that I’ve shown you how to win, I expect you all to crush me in PVP Tournament 3. :)
