As best as I’d guess from my own experiences and knowledge—I’ve never written a novel, nor have I tried getting a movie deal (I’m accepting offers, though)—I think you need to get an agent. Get an agent, get some legit representation, get your books widely recognized and then the options will just come ROLLING in. That’s maybe half-true and incredibly difficult. Good luck!
