I finished reading “The Warriors” by Sol Yurick. It’s—as you can see on the cover of the book—what the movie’s based on. I love the movie. Like, a real lot. And I was eager to see how the book differed from the movie and if I’d dig it as much as the film.
It bummed me out. Seriously, it’s a pretty bleak, depressing book. The situations, the characters’ actions and arcs, the world they live it—it’s rough. And boy, it’s VASTLY different from the film. And, spoiler alert: no Baseball Furies.
I’m glad I read it and if you’re a big fan of the movie, it’s worth checking out to at least see all the differences, but I kinda felt dirty after putting it down. I’ll take the movie version, thank you very much.
