Damn you, Japan! Heinlad sounds like one helluva Transformer.
Figure for Heinlad, one of the Transformers from Japan-only animated series Beast Wars Neo. I came across this guy while searching for Tanooki images yesterday.
Check out his Wikipedia description:
“Heinlad usually acts dazed and vague, often talking with a lazy and nonchalant style. He has a clock in his stomach, which gives him the ability to manipulate time.
His super secret skill is being able to stop or stretch time for a limited duration, but there’s a flaw in this ability: he still can’t control it at will. Heinlad’s past and combat abilities are surrounded in mystery. …
His beast mode is also unique, being based upon the tanuki or raccoon dog animal. The most notable feature of said animal was amazingly large testes which, according to Japanese legend, the tanuki used as both seat and as drums. This trait is reflected on the toy as two round objects right underneath his clock belly that become hip pads in robot mode, one of which contains his spark crystal.”
Here’s a review for the figure!

GAHHHHH! I used to have really crappy quality VHS versions of all the Japanese Transformers series and they were TERRIFIC. Really fun, crazy, well-animated Transformers shows. Victory, in particular, was a blast.
Currently, the collection is only available directly from Shout Factory. I must have this.

Tonight, I went to Hasbro’s pre-New York Comic Con party. This was what was in the swag bag—all of their NYCC exclusive toys, including the rad Marvel toys. AND they had an open bar. AND they had plates of sliders coming out all night. AND they showed us all kinds of new toys (photos of those tomorrow). AND I got to hang out with many good dudes. Big thanks to Hasbro and Hunter PR for a fun night.
New York Comic Con starts tomorrow, guys. Get ready.
We scored an Ultimate FX Lightsaber and some Transformers toys! The lightsaber is rad and the toys are great, but a pair of 3D glasses with the Autobot symbol on ‘em? That’s the jam.
My desk at work has new toys! A Kre-O Optimus Prime (SO. CUTE.) and a Battle Beasts…dude. I want ALL of Hasbro’s Kre-O Transformers. ALL OF THEM.

WHAT ARE THESE TINY TRANSFORMERS AND WHY DON’T I HAVE THEM ALL?
Killer display of classic Transformers toys at Barcelona Comicon. I had so many of ‘em as a kid, only a few remain. There was another display of post-G1 Transformers toys, but I’m not as fond of those.
Real talk: Cosmos was one of my favorite Transformers toys as a kid. So tiny. So rad.
Customized Wreck-Gar Transformer. So awesome.
My Galactus family made it to the new Marvel office. And yes, Blaster is photobombing the hell out of this picture.
Sharkticons.
China now has a 40-foot-tall, 6-ton Optimus Prime statue. Game over, America. Game over.
